What is Agnipath?

The Agnipath Scheme is a government of India initiative launched by the Ministry of Defence to provide short-term commissioned service opportunities for Indian youth (both men and women) in the Indian Armed Forces. It represents a transformative approach to military recruitment and career development.

Key Objective

To enable youth aged 17.5 to 23 years to serve the nation in the Armed Forces for a period of 4 years (with option for permanent commission) and gain invaluable experience, discipline, and professional training.

Eligibility Criteria

Age

✓Minimum: 17.5 years
✓Maximum: 23 years at time of enrollment

Citizenship

✓Indian citizen by birth
✓Unmarried (male and female)

Educational Qualification

✓10+2 pass (any stream) minimum
✓Engineering graduates eligible for Officer entry

Physical & Medical

✓Medically fit per Armed Forces standards
✓Meet height, weight, and vision requirements

Technical Knowledge

✓Engineering background preferred for technical roles
✓Computer literacy essential

Character

✓No criminal record
✓Character certificate required

Online Registration

Written Examination

Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted for all service branches

Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

Qualifying fitness standards including running, pushups, and physical measurements

Medical Examination

Comprehensive medical check-up by Armed Forces medical board

Document Verification

Verification of educational certificates, identity, and character certificates

Final Selection & Enrollment

Merit-based selection and enrollment into respective service branches
